Wellness Project Management announces short course: Fundamentals of Wellness aligned to registered unit standards

INTRODUCTION

Wellness Project Management (PTY) LTD offers a short course in 'The Fundamentals of Wellness'.  The course is based on three unit standards registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) at National Qualification Framework (NQF) level 4 in the Health Science and Social Services field and Preventive Health subfield.

The unit standards on which the course is based are:
SAQA US ID 377160: Explain the fundamentals of the concepts of wellness (8 credits)
SAQA US ID 377162: Explain the need for wellness awareness programmes (4 credits)
SAQA US ID 377161: Plan a wellness awareness programme for implementation in the workplace. (14 credits)

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The Fundamentals of Wellness short course aims to equip learners to understand and acquaint themselves with the underlying principles of the basic fundamentals of wellness and wellness awareness programmes.  The course provides essential foundational knowledge for people entering or wanting to enter into a career in Wellness, or who currently occupy positions where they have acquired the Wellness portfolio within their scope of work.

COURSE STRUCTURE

The course is structured on a modular basis and presented at a two and half day contact session concluded with a short questionnaire. A learner will be issued with a certificate of completion on achieving 70% for the questionnaire.

COURSE CONTENTS

The Fundamentals of Wellness short course covers fundamental content matter as detailed below: It will also include enrichment areas.

Module 1:  The Fundamentals of Wellness
Definitions of Wellness.
Models of Wellness and the physical, social, occupational, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, environmental, financial, mental, medical components making up these models, including the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) health model and two other generally accepted wellness models.

Module 2:  Wellness Awareness Programmes in the Workplace.
Health improvement benefits and commercial benefits of Wellness Awareness Programmes.
Behavioural change and coping mechanisms.
Corporate responsibility and wellness awareness programmes.
An overview of Wellness in the context of Talent Management

Module 3:  Planning a Wellness Awareness Programme.

Wellness Awareness Programmes components.
Transtheoretical model of change, modifiable risk factors, and lifestyle related risk factors.  The Risk Management Triangle.
Information used in planning Wellness Awareness Programmes.
Planning a Wellness Awareness Programme.

COST
Course fee per learner:  R11 500. Excl.Vat
The course fee includes all training material and a two and half day contact session run by multi-disciplinary professionals.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
Completion and submission of an application form and accompanying documents.
Payment of the course fee.
This course may be run in-house for a minimum of 10 people
